According to a 2014 Pew Research Center report, 90% of American adults own a cell phone, and 64% of these are smartphones. Laptop and tablet usage is also on the rise as consumers are choosing the convenience of portable technologies.
As of May 2013, 63% of adult cell owners use their phones to go online, and 34% of cell internet users go online mostly using their phones, and not using some other device such as a desktop or laptop computer. Others are are “multiscreening”, accessing sites using a combination of PC/laptop, smart phone, tablet, and game console, so consistent experiences across devices is important.
